Freed Moroccan Rapper Sticks It To The Regime Again
The powers of Morocco finally have come to their senses and did the right thing, they freed a young rapper who has emerged as one of the monarchy's most outspoken critics and who promptly denounced "thieves" and "scum" as he left prison. That's one badass rapper. He stuck to his guns and called it as he saw it.
The 24-year-old Mouad Belghouat, nicknamed "Al-Haqed", served four months in a Casablanca prison for assault but was acquitted of another charge and released. That charge was a bogus claim, to get back at the fiery rapper as supporters maintain.
Belghouat who is also a member of the February 20 protest movement, was arrested in September after a brawl with a monarchist on charges his lawyers say were trumped up to silence a growing protest movement.
This is one real rapper who insists on being heard, and serving time in jail, I bet he has a larger audience. According to AFP he gave those statements as he walked out of jail "We need a new deal, there is too much injustice. They brought in a new government but thieves are still enjoying impunity. We need to get rid of that scum," he said.
I wish him well
